CIVIL SOCIETY PARALLEL SESSION ON PUBLIC PRIVATE PARTNERSHIPS IN EAST AFRICA

The Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung, Southern and Eastern Trade Information and Negotiations Institute (SEATINI) and HakiMadini are organizing a civil society parallel session on the sidelines of the 1st Uganda ā€“ Tanzania Business Forum. The theme of the parallel session is prepared under the theme ā€œAre Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) a healthy option for East Africa?ā€. The session is scheduled to take place on 5th September 2019 in Dar es salaam.

The purpose of this session is to discuss the question of whether PPPs are the ideal tools for dealing effectively with infrastructure challenges in the East Africa region. Participants to debate this question have been drawn from national parliaments, the East African Legislative Assembly, representatives from the EU Parliament, Civil Society Organisations in the five EAC partner states, European Union, donor agencies, EAC Secretariat, Ministry of East African Community Affairs, private sector, trade Unions, media, academia and other key stakeholders.
